Transect Walk

Overview

A transect walk is a systematic walk through a community or area, documenting observations along the way. FieldSocio records geotagged observations along your route.

Setting Up

  1. Select Transect Walk from PRA Tools
  2. Create a new session with:
    • Title and objectives
    • Starting location
    • Community members accompanying you

During the Walk

  • GPS tracking records your route automatically
  • Add observation points at stops with:
    • Text notes
    • Photos
    • Audio recordings
    • Category tags (land use, infrastructure, resources, etc.)
  • Mark transitions between zones (e.g., residential to agricultural)

Output

A transect walk produces:

  • GPS route trace
  • Geotagged observation points with multimedia
  • Categorized notes along the transect
  • Session summary
