First Interview

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • A project created (see First Project)
  • Microphone permission granted
  • A participant registered (optional — you can add them later)
  • Informed consent captured (recommended)

Recording an Interview

  1. Open your project and tap Interviews
  2. Tap New Interview
  3. Select the interview language — this determines which ASR model processes your audio
  4. Optionally link a participant and set interview metadata (location, type, topic)
  5. Tap the record button to start

During recording:

  • The timer shows elapsed time
  • You can pause and resume as needed
  • Audio quality indicator shows recording levels
  • All audio is saved locally in real-time
  1. Tap Stop when finished
  2. Review the recording and tap Save

Automatic Transcription

Once saved (and when you have an internet connection), FieldSocio automatically:

  1. Uploads the audio to the cloud
  2. Sends it to Bhashini ASR for transcription in the original language
  3. Creates a full transcript

Transcription time depends on audio length — typically 2-5 minutes for a 30-minute interview.

AI-Powered Analysis

After transcription completes, FieldSocio’s AI pipeline automatically generates:

  • Summary — A concise overview of key points discussed
  • Auto-codes — Qualitative codes based on your project’s methodology
  • Entity extraction — People, places, organizations, and key concepts
  • Sentiment analysis — Overall and per-segment sentiment

Viewing Results

Open the interview detail screen to see:

  • Full transcript with timestamps
  • AI-generated summary
  • Suggested codes (which you can accept, modify, or reject)
  • Audio playback synced with the transcript
